One Psychological Insight To Rule Them All

About 100 years ago, almost every psychologist believed human nature was either completely dictated by our genetics or the environment.

Psychologist and philosopher William James, however, didn’t agree.

That controversial stance combined with his many accomplishments eventually got James an invitation to speak at the American psychological Association. A huge conference which attracted thousands of attendees.

His topic of choice?

Everything we’ve learned in the last 100 years of Psychological Research.

If people weren’t already excited to hear James speak, they sure were now.

When the day finally arrived and James walked onto the stage, the auditorium was as quiet as a morgue.

Everyone wanted to hear what he had to say. Some out of curiosity, others to see him make a fool out of himself.

Here’s what he said.

Then he left.

You are whatever you think you are.
