A Simple Way To Become Happier

What you pay attention to determines your every experience. You could be on the summit of Mount Everest on a gorgeous summer day and not even know you’re there if you’re drowning in worry.

Worry can suck the fun out of the most joyous occasion. That’s why attention is one of the most important resources you have, spend it on the wrong thing and you will live a life of misery regardless of your circumstances. Blegh.

Cast your attention on what upsets you and you’ll feel the world is scary and depressing. Focus on what intrigues and excites you and the world will feel exhilarating and rife with opportunity.

If you want a happy life, you must direct your attention to happy things.

Ponder some of the next prompts for a few weeks and your mood will undoubtedly change for the better. For even better results, write your answers down in a notebook.

  • Name your three favourite moments of the day;
  • Name three things that you’re grateful for;
  • Name three fun things that you helped make happen, like making someone laugh;
  • Name three goals you’ve achieved;
  • Name three things that you’re looking forward to doing tomorrow, big or small.

Your life is what you pay attention to. So please get it right for your own sake.
