The Goldilocks Zone

All cultures revere the middle.

For it is a magical place.

Not only does it have miraculous properties, but it can also be fascinatingly difficult to find.

Because to find the middle you must first know its ends, or risk going beyond it.

Much of our lives revolve around finding the middle.

Whether that be a scientist’s search for the next habitable planet—which lies in between hot and cold.

An artist’s search for the perfect painting—which lies in between order and chance.

Or the individual’s search for the perfect life—which lies in between work and play.

When is it just right?
