Trust Me To Be Distrustful

The harder I try to be trustworthy, the more I realise I am not to be trusted.

All my actions are a monument to my deception.

Phony little me has slowly learned to trick his way into being a person of confidence and predictability.

Because that’s what others wanted of me.

I applaud the performance of the guru, swami and snake oil salesman.

Putting on a convincing act of trustworthiness requires guts.

Especially when you realise you know exactly nothing.

Not even who you are.

Maybe that’s why the wise make for such skillful entertainers.

If you have no real identity to maintain, personality is only courage.

The courage to be whatever you want to be.
