When Life Is Unfair

Sometimes it feels like the world is conspiring against you. Maybe you didn’t get the promotion you wanted, maybe your girlfriend broke up with you, and perhaps you took a tumble and hurt yourself.

So what do you do when life gets you down?

The only thing you can do, take ownership.

Consider whether you could have somehow changed the outcome for the better.

Could you have got the promotion if you were better at your job? Would your ex-girlfriend still want you if you were a better communicator? And would you perhaps not have taken a nosedive down the stairs if you didn’t have to look over your belly to see the steps?

If so, work on it so it doesn’t happen again.

But sometimes it’s not in your power to change anything. Some situations are completely out of your hands.

How do you take ownership then?

When things are truly beyond your control, you can only take ownership of one thing: how you choose to respond.

That’s why I wish you the serenity to accept the things you can’t change, the courage to change the things you can, and the wisdom to know the difference.

Good luck.
